I really like the look of the homepage, it reads very much like a magazine, but finding content from the homepage is confused and a little difficult.

Great design, but for User eXperience experts they don't seem to have given text resizing a great deal of thought. Search results are nice, I really like the colour-coding they've used throughout the site.

Hmm, I noted that some elements are heavily inspired by the old Cambridge Technology Partners UX Center and the red frame is definately copied from the previous Novell style. Not very original.

Right now they've got a graphic touting the stat that 74% of their readers are NOT using IE. Oddly, they seem to be relying on IE's refusal to resize fonts specified in pixels to ensure text fits in the myriad little boxes of the layout. Still - a nice looking site.

I really like the way that the layout changes depending on browser width - seems to work a little better on IE. Not being able to re-size the text is a real shame. I find that most design decisions I make are affected by whether or not they allow for text re-sizing so I find it a little irritating to see other sites not bothering. Nice design though.

It's also a very good showcase how powerful Texpattern is.

It looks nice and I appreciate it from a web development standpoint. I do think the home page is a disaster. It's far to difficult to read. All style no design. Perhaps when they finish whatever goals they have for the implementation they will have time to focus on intelligent writing befitting the topic they chose to discuss. Maybe even run a user test or two.

I guess I agree with Robin, homepage is a bit complex, but that is exactly what makes it look so good. Great colour selection. Yeah, by the way, the option to open external links in new window is really handy... Great work...

UX Magazine's site demonstrates the ironic rift that is developing between Usability and "UX Design". It's not a bad-looking layout, but it's horrible from a usability standpoint... Unintuitive and clunky. They display list data as a grid, they use small fonts, they change the user's context with mouse rollovers... yikes.
