WAC-FR: A Few New Tricks for IFR

  • WAC-FR: A Few New Tricks for IFR

FR is a fantastic technique, but we identified several shortcomings that we endeavored to solve. First, IFR allows for very little manipulation of how the text looks aside from the single font used. In order to change color, font, or size, you must edit the original Flash source file. Second, it ignores text resize operations, remaining the same size onscreen regardless of how a user’s text size option is set. Third, it restricts you to a single line of text.

Thus was born the idea of Werner and Cameron Flash Replacement, WAC-FR (pronounced “wack ef ar”) for short. WAC-FR is a derivative improvement of IFR, and I cannot stress enough how appreciative both Rob and I are of Shaun’s work. Credit for the original idea of Flash replacement goes entirely to Shaun.
